Mr. J.Ph. (Jochem) van der Veen studied Law in Leiden and Paris and has been a lawyer since 1996. He started his career with a global, multidisciplinary firm, after which he continued his career at an established Rotterdam law firm. During that period, he furthered his development by completing specialisation programmes in the areas of business law (corporate, M&A and international law) and European and national competition law.

Jochem has a dynamic consulting (advice) and litigation practice, in which most of the time international aspects are involved. In this practice, he assists and represents SMEs, listed companies and multinational enterprises and high net worth individuals. His specialist areas are (cross-border) mergers and acquisitions, contract law, competition law, international law, joint ventures and other forms of collaboration, venture capital, property and commercial financing (and refinancing), structuring (and restructuring), franchising, agency and distribution as well as corporate and commercial litigation.

Besides Dutch, Jochem speaks fluent English, German and French, teaches on a variety of courses, publishes internationally, is a popular speaker at national and international conferences and gives guest lectures at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Given his focus, all-round knowledge and broad, multidisciplinary national and international experience, Jochem is, apart from, or besides being an advocate, increasingly also being asked to represent clients as a boardroom counsel or legal counsel.
